PhotoHunt 81 : Pink

PhotoHunt 81 : Pink

thought of so many "pink" to post today... baby in a pink dress with pink hair clip sitting on a pink blanket, so many pink hair clips, pink nails, pink..., pink... pink...etc... can't make up my mind until...

...after giving my baby a bath this morning... i realized... why not her always "pink" soles. problem... i had a hard time taking a picture of both soles because i can't keep her steady. anyway... here goes...

PhotoHunt 80 : Pratical

Reusable/Washable "SPOON & FORK POUCH" for my son's lunch box.

i ran out of plastic to use for the spoon and fork the other day. so instead of buying i thought of sewing these pouches made of thin canvass. practical? yes, but it's also my small contribution on how i can "at least" lessen one of the causes of global warming - reduce the use of... plastic!

PhotoHunt 79 : Smelly

PhotoHunt 79 : Smelly

i had a hard time deciding what to post in this week's theme. after seeing some of the posts of the other photo hunters i got confused on what does smelly really means - stinky or fragrant? so i decided to consult dictionary.com and thesaurus.com to help me...

According to thesaurus.com the synonyms and antonyms for smelly are...

Synonyms:
evil-smelling, fetid, foul, foul-smelling, funky*, high, malodorous, mephitic, noisome, olid, putrid, rancid, rank, reeking, stinking, stinko, stinky, strong, strong-smelling, whiffy

Antonyms:
aromatic, fragrant, fresh, sweet

And according to dictionary.com...

smell·y – adjective; emitting a strong or unpleasant odor;
reeking.

Whew! now i'm enlightened... so here goes...

i went out for a walk and i saw this goat...
(aren't they supposed to be smelly)

and this drain...

and this garbage can and dog house

looks/smells stinky?
... i don't want to sniff!
=(

PhotoHunt 78: Curvy

PhotoHunt 78 : Curvy

Sorry for the blurred picture. i took this pic using my instamatic camera when i went to tokyo disneyland in the 90's. we were walking inside this big "shade"...when i looked back...i saw that the castle was framed in the big arch...just had to take a shot. hope this would pass as curvy for this week's theme.

salamat PinoyCook

i cooked this last night (kaya nasira ang menu for the week) ... para mabilis at para hindi masayang yung natirang gulay. i just used 1 pc carrot, 1/8 baguio beans. kaya lang wala akong kecap manis kaya i just used oyster sauce and a little salt. plus may natira pang beef lomo, hiniwa ko ng super nipis. ang dali-dali nga lutuin! i matched it with broiled chiken...kasi naalala ko may ibinabad (sa kalamasi, toyo at paminta) pala akong few pieces of puw*t at pakpak ng manok the other night...so para hindi ako mag-prito (kasi nga tinatamad ako at namamalantsa si manang) nilagay ko na lang sa turbo, sprinkled it with some bbq seasoning and covered it with foil. then few minutes before serving tinanggal ko ang foil and sinalang ko ulit sa turbo para medyo crispy ng konti ang balat.

white, red and yellow

another sewing projects...
...curtains for the living room... matching throw pillows
...and voila!
i ran out of red and yellow chex fabric to cover the entire dining room door...so
i created this to "at least" match the ones in the living room...
... and managed to make seat covers too
...and voila!

i bought the red and yellow chex fabric as cover for the couch but i found it too hard to make! sus! i only managed to sew one piece for the single couch...suko ako! ang hirap! kasi you have to match the colors and the LINES! ginoo! so... i decided to just use the fabric for the curtain and throw pillows and as "touch" to the dining room ensemble. i was also happy that it matched the color of the wall.

throw pillow cover

i saw this design in one of the home stores in megamall...only... the one on the display used turquoise ribbons and flowerettes. i made a mental note that i will duplicate it. and here it is! i bought the ribbons and flowerettes from divisoria. the white canvass is from my fabric stock (naks! parang andami!). i only managed to make one though...i find the white canvass "not bagay sa design"...should use other white fabric.

buco-lychee sherbet/shake

it tasted sooo good...i had to take a picture! we first tasted it from mann-hann. (darn...i forgot to take a picture of it) it was uber delicious but it was pricey at P80. i told dad that we should make the same thing sa bahay. yesterday, i asked him to buy some buco juice and a can of lychee. (darn again...i forgot to ask him to buy gelatin). anyway, i put the buco juice inside the freezer and chilled the lychee. today at lunch, i took the buco from the freezer and processed it in the blender together with some lychees and lychee syrup and a little sugar. and...oh-la-la! it was soooo refreshingly good! next time...i'll make sure to put buco-lychee flavored gelatin.

finally!

at last... i was able to come up with something out of this...i didn't know exactly what to come up with. i just decided to crochet continuously until the yarn was almost used up. then i left it on the table for a few days. this morning i decided to fold it and put the sides together. and wooo-hooo...here it is now! well...what is it? i don't know really. maybe i can use it for something...
until i saw this plastic case lying on the table.
this is actually my memory cards case.

and so... plastic case goes inside. perfect fit! not to mention more protection!
well... that will be a memory card holder for now...
i just don't know tomorrow...
at least...i came up with something! not bad for a start.

sewing space

i saw this pic in the BHG mag that my cousin sent me...

i really wish that someday i'll be able to put-up my own sewing space in the house. i was inspired to have my own creative space after i saw the pic above...

...and these pics over at House on Hill Road.

right now i'm thinking of putting it in the guest room instead of the family room. i will have more privacy in the guest room not to mention a lot of space!

wish...wish..when will it ever come true!

PhotoHunt: Paper

PhotoHunt 76 : Paper

looks like yummy chocolate?
nah...inside are actually fridge magnets that i made for my daughter's 1st birthday.
i wrapped it in a brown art PAPER and added tiny PAPER flowers to make it a little attractive.
turned out really nice to look at when i took this picture.
now if this is nice to look at...

how about these papers...

and these papers...

these are atually my (student) husband's (ssshhhh...mess) law notes.
he doesn't want me to mess up with it.
that's why the office/study room in our house is a mess!

dining chair cover...

i made these seat covers for our dining chair. originally this fabric was our curtain before but i find it too dark and not...chic =P. so i decided to convert it into a seat cover instead. i got the design from one of the magazines i bought before. actually the ribbon was just an addition.

what now?

i bought this yarn and hook because i wanted to try to crochet using yarn. when i got home... 'di ako makaisip ng gagawin using this. then i tried to start with a poncho but i only got to the 4th row... ni-unwind ko kasi kulang naman ang yarn ko for a poncho. i wanted to see a finished product. i tried doing a cellphone holder... medyo malapit na matapos... then i decided again na tastasin. haay....ano kaya pwedeng gawin?

dream board...

sana dumating ang panahon na madala ko dito ang mga anak ko...

paul potts

my friend lisa forwarded this to me. thanks liza for forwarding... naiyak ako. at kahit ilang beses ko na siya napanood...naiiyak pa rin ako. (sus...cry baby!) pinapanood ko pa nga ito kay dad, and he too was touched! he even asked me to search if he won...and yes he won pala! you can read about it here and watch the finals here.

and today, i read about him sa philippine star. sabi ko i need to post this sa multiply ko...hindi lang sa mishymashy.

You can read more about him here, here and here.

ganito tayo noon... to all the kids who survived the 1930's to 1970's

i received this from chris...
just had to post it kasi so true di ba?!

Those Born between 1930-1979
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the
1930's , 40's, 50's, 60's and the 70's

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, drank evaporated milk, and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs made of abaca. We didn't have Pampers or Huggies, just the cool comfort of the "lampin"

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we
rode our bikes, we had no helmets,
kneepads or elbowpads; not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking with just "tsinelas" and "sandos". . .yet we were able to come down from the hills and mountains

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or airbags .

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and
NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate "tira-tira", white bread and "mantikilya", dirty ice cream and drank sweet sago't gulaman from the nearby store.. but we weren't overweight because

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING !

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.

And we were O.K.

We would spend hours riding our bikes and rode down
the hills, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's,
no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms.......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no
lawsuits from these accidents.

We were given "baril-barilan" for our 8th birthdays and yet we still grew up as peace-loving adults.

We played "tumbang preso", "taguan" or "syato"..the game where sticks were flying; and although we were told we may hit our playmates, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang
the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

We look forward to summer basketball leagues in our neighborhood and although not everyone made the team, those who didn't were able to learn to deal with disappointment.

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.

They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO

DEAL WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them .

CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as
kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives

for our own good.

And while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and lucky) their parents were

baby bubble...

backtrack to yesterday...mikee and i were reading in the family room while chiko was playing all by herself inside her playpen. while reading i can hear her making sounds like...mah! pause mah! and another. after several mah-mahs...sabay kami napatingin ni mikee sa play pen! hehe there she was making that mah! mah! sound...creating l*w*y bubbles.

at mukhang dinidibdib niya ang paggawa ng bubbles! sus!

the day chiko hugged me long and tight...

yes...that's today. i was so elated because for the first time ever...she hugged me back tight for a little more than 15 minutes. as in "kugos" not because she's scared but because maybe she wanted to make lambing. we were playing kasi sa bed ni kuya...it was raining hard because of typhoon chedeng...we were making bubbles (from you know l*w*y..hehe). well..she started it okay? and natuwa lang ako so ginaya ko siya. hehe. i made a really big bubble. she wanted to touch it but naturally it popped! i made another one...she made an effort to put her mouth against mine but she landed on my left side cheek. and so i embraced her tight and kissed her sa cheeks at the same time. aba! for the first time ever... she did not struggle to get out of my arms! hay naku...tuwang-tuwa talaga ako.

sarap mag big-hug!

nestle chunky choco mocha

family's current suuuuper favorite!
yummy!
the chunky choco is just so greeeat...it melts in your mouth.
and the mocha...we love mocha that's why we also love nestle's super mocha.
just hope this limited edition flavor won't be limited but forever!

the flower that blooms at night

yes, this flower only blooms at night. bakit kaya? i don't even know the name of this plant. i got this from our relative - tiya fe. i had to take a picture at night (xempre...kasi nga sa gabi lang siya open) otherwise i won't be able to catch it in full bloom. the flower is big and it emits a really mabangong amoy. this night there were 5 of them sabay-sabay namukadkad.

harvest...from our "yard"

that guyabano was planted by lolo pang. after several years...ngayon lang bumunga!
that bayabas just grew sa tabing bakod namin. ang dami na naming nakuhang bunga dun. matamis. chiko likes it.

bonding with lolo pang

this picture is really a joy for me to see. that's my mikee with my father, mikee's lolo pang. they played slingshot in front of our house. lolo pang was feeling weak that time (that's why he was sitting) but he gave in to mikee's prodding to play. mikee was sooooooooooo happy that time - playing with his lolo pang whom he loves dearly.

"hurry up lolo pang, sabay tayo tumira"

ready, aim, fire!

one more time lolo pang!

my small garden

these pictures were taken in our small garden.
nice 'no?

wilkins...for my plantbox project

can somebody tell me what kind of plant is this? i know it's a tropical plant but i don't know excatly the name. well...nag-iipon kami ng halaman using the wilkins bottle chiko is using for her milk. dami kasi...sayang naman. kesa bumili pa ng paso..e hindi naman yun makikita sa plantbox...e di naisip ko eto na lang. it fits perfectly well sa loob ng plant box. we're waiting for the plant na tumubo at mabuhay before we put it in the plant box. right now...nandun sila sa garage. which when placed there...sabi ko...okay din pala jan e. i'll just paint the "plastic paso".

lovely orchid from pang

isn't this lovely?
got this from daddy...all the way from bicol.
i had to take a picture and show that it's from my dad.
took the picture underneath the flower.

today chiko walked...3 steps without support

yes she did!
i was so delighted i shouted
"yehey! ang galing galing ng bibe ko!"
i was so happy i carried her and kissed her no end.
i texted her dad right away...
he was also so happy and texted back
"galing talaga ng dakuykuy".

happy birthday mom!

yup! mom's a year older!
it's july 25th...and it's also chicko's trip to the doctor for his regular check-up. we picked-up mikee from school (shortened period because of teacher integration...blahblah). then we headed to the hospital. it was 11:25 already...doctor's sched ends at 12:00 noon! did we make it? yes we did! thank God there was no heavy traffic that day! maybe it's His bday gift to me? thank you again Papa Jesus! anyway, we reached the hospital at 11:45...whoa! that was really fast! and guess what...there were 8 kiddos waiting to be "served"! and we thought we're late?
it's lunch time already...we're hungry...and we are no. 9! stomocah growling...we headed to the food center of the hospital...and where else would we eat... xempre sa Max's! meron pa bang iba? well at least it's a good substitute for a steak house (droollll!=). and so hungry as we are we gobled on fried chicken and chopsuey! all four of us...mikee, chiko, dad and moi! chiko ate so much! kuya even had egg pie! haay...salamat busog na.
when we got back to the clinic...we're no. 5! what the?! and so we waited...then it's our turn...chiko was observed by the doctor if she can sit well already. then he had her lie down...huh?! waaaaaaaaaaahhhh. chiko cried when he saw the doctor. the doctor said "matalinong bata, kilala na ako". and he gave her jelly ace...suhol!
and then off we go to the mall to watch Ratatouille...it was a cute, funny with a little ewww movie. mikee and mom enjoyed it...dad? he's there sa side dancing with chiko...who was asleep the whole time! when we got out of the moviehouse...mikee asked to have his picture taken with the movie backdrafts... harry potter...simpsons....and rat-a-too-eee!
then we bought some delicious donuts from Hot Loops! hmmmnnn...yummy creamy yema with caramel! oh so sweet but oh so delicious! then off we went home because mom's gonna cook kare-kare for dinner. another yum-e food!
and that's it! mom's date on her birthDAY!

zzzzzzzz...

kaya isang araw
umuwi siya na may dala ulit tsinelas
heto o...

ito ang madalas niya gamitin
habang nag-aaral pa lumakad
cute di ba?

s c a t t e r e d . . .

if you have a little one in the house...expect that things will be scattered everywhere! sometimes just by looking at it makes you tired because you will have to keep and arrange everything again and again after every "storm". but most of the time it brings out a smile n your face because you know that an innocent child was there before, playing those toys and flipping the pages of those books. that's the purpose of these things right? toys are supposed to be played with and books are supposed to be read or flipped at least. they should serve their purpose. these were not bought for nothing. these were not bought just to be placed in a locked display cabinet! and just be stared at... puleezz! i'm not like other mom's (i know one) that will scold a child upon seeing him or her playing with toys or scattering toys around the house. it looks messy and unorganized alright but i am more happier if i see my son's toys were broken or little part's missing or lying on the floor. at least, that way, i know that money did not go to waste. because the toy was enjoyed (i hope before it was broken) and explored by my children! you just have to teach them how to keep these toys after playing... i'm still teaching... but hey...it's alright! they will only have one childhood memory...and i want to make it happy and memorable for them!
